Tessa was born in Arlington, Massachusetts. She has lived in Macedonia, Mexico, New York, Arizona, Somerville, and Jamaica Plain. She is a self-taught artist whose work has appeared in local shows. Her favorite thing to do (when she's not doing art) is to spend time with her dogs. About four years ago, out of an experience of disillusionment and loss, she began practicing art. While each viewer brings with them their own meanings, common themes in her work include the expressive power of hands, trauma, recovery, and queerness.
